o'connell street looking south in the 1940s

The view from Nelson's Pillar looking South (here's looking North). This is during WWII, hence the legend pointing to the location of the air raid shelter. The "taxi" and "car" legend suggests that they were a rarity at the time (indeed, there is only one car on the entire street).
